Given all this, I was incredibly excited to try ILIA’s Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40, a foundation-suncare hybrid, firstly, because it comes in eighteen shades so we all can wear it and, secondly, because it is loaded with the actives I usually use in serum-form — Hi hyaluronic acid and niacinamide —
How to use it: Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40
I like to shake the product before applying; I then apply it with my fingertips, a makeup sponge, or with your favourite brush — this is my favourite way to use it —
The formula doesn’t match skin tone upon initial application, but it will dry down to its true tone after a few seconds.
The Verdict: Glow in a bottle
It’s become one of my best lockdown discoveries — pretty much the only thing I wear on Zoom —
Theformula is extremely comfortable to wear and makes my skin look like nothing before. While it doesn’t cover it up completely, it looks natural, blurs pigmentation and sunspots, and makes the real glow happen. When I wear it, this looks like I put a highlighter on top of my cheekbones.
When I want a bit more coverage for my outside-the-house excursions, AKA grocery shopping, I’ll toss on a bit of my favourite concealer on any spot, which blends incredible into the tint’s hydrating texture. Still, most days, the tint is all I need.
The double bonus for me in this formula is that it works as an SPF 40, and even though it’s a mineral SPF, it does not leave any white cast.
If you are a fan of the makeup no-makeup look and want that dewy, glowing finish, this has your name on it. If, opposite, you like full coverage face, probably you won’t fall in love with this tint.
For me, it’s almost the only “makeup” product I’m wearing these days, and even when I’ll return to a world where I can wear my fancy Bottega shoes more than sweatpants and sneakers on repeat, this tint is here to stay.
