There are two types of people in this world: those who like to sleep in oversize T-shirts or those who prefer a matching sleepwear set. Beyond the obvious comfort factor, Indrid Bonnor doesn’t just prefer to feel good with a nice matching set. Also, she is the brain behind the beloved Australian sleepwear and bridal loungewear brand Homebodii that started in 2012 and is now stocked at big retailers such as Revolve Clothing, David Jones, and The Iconic, just to mention a few.

How did you start Homebodii?

I will never forget the moment, I was backstage at a Bridal show when I felt this desire to create exquisite robes that could take a Bride on a journey throughout her whole wedding experience and allow her and her bridal party to feel breathtaking throughout the whole day.

My initial original collection of 6 lace bridal robes was launched in 2012 and to my pleasure sold out within the first two weeks. Homebodii quickly became one of the leading pioneers of the now multi-million-dollar pre-wedding category with one of our original lace robes going on to become the most pinned bridal robe ever, worn by countless brides and celebrities over the last 8 years.

In addition to Anthropologie’s bridal label, BHLDN, partnering us early on this propelling the brand and our original collection to become their best-selling collections of bridal robes of all time. The brand has now evolved to include sleepwear, intimate’s lifestyle pieces and a focus on monogramming and personalization. we are sold worldwide and have strong partnerships with our retailers David Jones, The Iconic, Nordstrom, Bloomindales and Revolve.

It means the world to us to know that our pieces are a part of our precious customer’s experiences whether it is a wedding day, the birth of a child, or a gift for a friend in need. The original inspiration to uplift through beautiful garments continues and is what motivates and uplifts us.

What is the importance of sustainability for the brand?

Within Homebodii each garment has been designed with love, care and a determination to positively impact both and the planet and people through our production.  Each design detail is documented with the utmost transparency. Homebodii manufactures our products in internationally accredited workplaces in China and Peru with each garment designed in a way to foster a circular fashion model. We source sustainable fabrications and are proud to say over 60% of our range is produced in sustainable cellulose fibres by Lenzing.

What is your favourite Homebodii item?

I have created some of the most beautiful pieces that I am very proud of, but, and I think this might surprise many, my favourite item is the Ruby Pug Pyjamas.

Ruby is our family’s pug and she has been on this journey with me from day one.  Jumping into the car, heading into the office, at my feet as I design and always there with a cuddle in the stressful moments.  I commissioned Ruby to be drawn by artist Alexandra Nea and she knew how important this piece was for me and together we decided to add a tutu to bring homage to my biggest fan my mum, who was a dance teacher.

How did you select which scents to include in the amazing Room and Linen Mist and Signature Candle?

Those who know me, know my love for flowers.  Every week I will make my way to our local florist, select and purchase fresh flowers.  Flowers may lift my spirits and that it what inspired me to create the Homebodii signature scent.

What are your hopes for the future of Homebodii?

My hopes for Homebodii is that it continues to provide beautiful loungewear and sleepwear that provides a peaceful escape in our customers.  To continue to serve our community with products that transcend ‘just throwing anything on’ and becomes a tradition that they look forward to and celebrate.
