8 Looks to Consider for Any Party

1. Community

After several years of being isolated and stuck at home, followed by a few more months of being cautious, people have well and truly re-emerged. No longer do people want to be stuck at home doing online workouts, instead, fitness studios are buzzing again, people are lingering to chat, and the buzz of the community is back.

“BFT is a very results-driven fitness concept” says Georgia Dunlop, Marketing Manager at BFT“Alongside a really strong product, it’s the community and connection aspect that keep our members coming back.”

“It comes through loud and clear from our regular member surveys how much people feed off the interaction and community aspect of our studios. Training in a team environment adds accountability, engagement and a little bit of competitiveness that gets the best out of our members – and it’s addictive. That’s why even after all the lockdowns and uncertainly, we have reached over 50, 000 members!”

“That’s why group training will always have a place in the fitness industry – just like team sport – as humans we crave connection and that fundamental human nature isn’t going to change. The most successful studios will be the ones that can harness those communities and make them places people don’t ever want to leave!”

2. Mindset

The Mindbody Wellness Index found that 39% of Australians chose mental health as the most important areas if wellness for them. Of those, over 26% have started meditating to help them maintain their mental health.

“Too many people only turn to meditation when they are down and out” says Luke McLeod, the founder of meditation app Soul Alive.

“The problem with this is that it is hard to build a habit when you are running on fumes and therefore people stay burnt out longer than they need to be.”

“Implementing mental health practises, scheduling them into your diary and keeping to them as you would any other appointment will help you keep on top of your mental health year round. This doesn’t just need to be meditation practise. It can be adding journaling into your routine, mindful walks and even breath work exercises.

“Choose what works for you, maybe even a variety of things would be best, schedule it into your week and keep it as you would any other appointment.”

3. Hot and cold therapy for recovery

There has been a lot of buzz about hot and cold therapies this year, between the new Limitless series by Chris Hemsworth, to the ice bath trend that has been gracing social media feeds for several months now.

“It’s important to remember that what you take from your body, you should give back to your body. By implementing recovery practises into your routine, can help reduce inflammation, reduce the risk of burnout and help to heal your body faster than it would otherwise,” says Ben Seymourthe co-owner of Recovery Lab

“Ice Baths, while brutal, provide so many benefits, one being that it can help your body flush out toxins which can reduce your chance of injury and/ or improve the rehabilitation of an injury. By constricting your blood vessels, which happens naturally when you subject your body to freezing cold temperatures, it can help accelerate blood flow for rapid recovery and reduce your cortisol. Research has shown that it may also help you get a better nights sleep.”

“The infrared sauna, on the other hand, is much more comfortable, provided you are okay with heat. The infrared lamps penetrate deeper into your body to help your muscles recover. Infrared sauna can help with detoxification, improving circulation and relieving inflammation such as joint pain.”

4. Embrace Avatars

There is so much technology available at our fingertips right now to keep us accountable and help us achieve our goals. There is an app for everything these days and the Bodymapp app is one that makes life so much easier.

Bodymapp is a revolutionary 3D body scanning app that gives you 20 different body and health measurements. After scanning, the app gives you an in-depth 6-page health report that breaks down your scan results, and gives you personalised insight into your health and fitness. The app also has an in-built goals feature that lets you set goals and track your progress with visual graphs, to help you stay on track” says Sarah Gillard from Bodymapp.

Additionally, the app creates a 3D avatar of your body, so you can compare your scans side by side and see how your body has changed.”

The Bodymapp app doesn’t take any pictures of you, but instead, it uses infrared depth sensors to map out the body and find the external body measurements, then it uses algorithms to find health metrics such as body fat percentage. It’s non-invasive and safe for everyone to use, even if you’re pregnant

5. Connected Fitness

While we are on technology, there is no doubt that connected fitness is going from strength to strength and has been for a number of years.

Vitruvian is one brand that is booming. It hails from Perth, Australia, but according to Time Magazine, it is one of the best inventions of 2022. Why? Because it can turn any tiny space into a weight room.

The Vitruvian Trainer + comes as a slimline carbon fibre platform that operate by smart algorithms that constantly respond to the way you move. There are two very small and very powerful motors that deliver weight via adaptive algorithmic technology and two retractable cables. The weight rapidly adjusts – up to 50 times per second – to both challenge and support you to maximize each rep with optimal weight for you, while also acting as a spotter. The resulting resistance can range from 0-200kg.

6. Fluid Running

Finally, for the runners out there who are injured or who would like to do some low-impact training to support their running, Fluid Running is one workout that its dominating world wide.

There is no doubt that fun runs are back with attendance numbers starting to get back to normal, however, thanks to the rise of the “covid runners”, there were also a number of injuries, but that doesn’t mean you need to be sidelined.

Fluid Running was founded by Jennifer Conroyd as an alternative to land-based running after she sustained an injury while training for her 16th marathon. The Fluid Running app offers a variety of motivating, on-demand audio workouts that can be done in around 5-6 feet of water. They also sell water proof headphones and a floatation belt.

This workout will improve your cardio, strength, endurance and mobility. It is also just a fun way to train, especially in summer.

With all that said, one trend that will never fade away is the importance of regular health checkups. So, be sure to do just that. And if you don’t have doctors yet, a simple search for a phrase like “dentist near me Valencia” or “physician in New York” should pull up a list of experts that you can reach out to.
