We’re not quite ready to say goodbye to our summer tans, and so we sought out some ways to preserve our glow through this new season. Sunny days might be over by now, but that’s not a reason why your body has to go into pale mood from now on. If you’re not a fan of self-tanning yet, you will, with these easy tips.

Self-tanning is one of those beauty trends that we used to be scared of, and not everybody will pray for this practice but recently, the approach towards this beauty ritual has definitely evolved, you just need to find the perfect tanner for you and your skin, as we all want that glowy dark olive under tone to last all year long, right?

How to choose the right self-tanner for you?

Being under the sun hasn’t been one of the priorities this year so we’re giving you two options of self-tanner that we have been loving all summer long.

  1. Byron Bay Bronze

What dreamer and sunnier location than Byron Bay? That’s probably what Charlotte Critchlow, founder of Byron Bay Bronze thought when creating the range. It comes as a self-tanning foam that gives you a beautiful natural-looking colour with over 95% of natural ingredients, such as Kakadu plum (the world’s richest source of vitamin C), organic avocado, macadamia, almond oil, caffeine, vitamins B, C and E; and aloe vera.

Charlotte, truly cares about the planet, as proof: Byron Bay Bronze is the only self-tanning range on the market who uses bottles that are made from 100% ocean waste plastic as they actually remove plastic debris from the ocean and reuse it, along with other social activities.

2. Sunescape

The original Bondi born formula is packed with skin-loving vitamins, antioxidants, hydrating oils and a certified natural DHA from beetroot and Rapa seed. As everything we love at CF, Sunescape is also proudly vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, and expertly formulated without some of the common harmful ingredients found in other tanning products including alcohol, parabens, sulphates, petrochemicals and formaldehyde. The best thing about Sun Escape? How fast it dries onto the skin, 10 minutes and you’re ready to go.

“My non-negotiables when I created Sunescape was that it had to look like a real tan, that means no orange undertones and no streaking, but above all else, it had to be safe! I knew years before the trend towards natural beauty we’re now seeing would take off. People are as conscious about what they put on their skin as they are in their mouth” Says Lisa Williams, founder of Sunescape.

2. Exfoliate

Once you have chosen the best self-tanner for you, it’s time to get into action. First things first, to make your tan stay on point the longest, you have to exfoliate at least 12hrs before applying any self-tanning products.

I personally love to use my double side Face Halo Body, it’s easy and handy as a sponge.

3. Moisturise

This step is as important or even more than the actual tanning, a body wrongly moisturised can lead to unwanted lines and marks throughout the skin. Be really mindful on the knees, elbows and hands areas to not regret your fake tanning.

4. Grab your MITT

Both Sunescape and Byron Bay Bronze come with their unique velvety mitt, the sensation when in touch with your skin is just pure luxe, from toes to neck, a great mitt it definitely makes the difference.

P.S: They’re both reusable and washable.

5. Start Painting your body

It’s easier to start at the feet because they’re the hardest to get right, so focus all your blending attention on them. Move up through your legs and keep blending all the way up.

6. After Tanning Care

Wash your hands immediately and allow the tan on your body stands at least for 8hrs, then it’s time to see the glowing results.

7. Prolong your tan

Moisturize deeply once or even twice a day, so the tanning actives stick on your body as its best, Sunescape has also a great range of after tanning care, try their Gradual Tan Extender for a week after the self-tanning application or until you get the tone desired. For instant and radiant glow try their Illuminating Body Tint, the smell is just pure goodness and the glowy finish is pure luxe.
