1. Shop Eco

One of our new year resolutions when we make a purchase is to research new alternatives that benefit both us and our earth. We want to support and purchase whether it is a small or big company that produces eco-friendly products with eco-friendly methods. We also want to shop smart and buy things that will give us value for long periods to reduce waste and save money as well! Before making a big purchase,  we want to research how the product has been produced (was it made ethically? What are their methods?)  and take interest in their mission statement.

Here are some recommended brands that support both us and mother nature:

2. Invest More in People

Let’s start with a quote from The Minimalist, “Love people. Use Things. The Opposite Never Works!” which is resonates with our materialistic world full of consumerism. Due to innovation and technological advancements, it is super easy to invest and rely on tangible products. It is quite ironic that despite the rise of social media we are quite disconnected as a whole.

It is important to know your people and truly invest in them. In 2021! It is time to cut off people who you tolerate and spend more time with those who celebrate and fight with you. It does take a village to raise a person, and we need to understand and get comfortable with the idea that we need people – which 2020 showed us when we were in lockdown.

We want to make great connections with people and have deep conversations with them. Conversations can truly help someone mentally and emotionally. We want to continuously uplift, encourage, and support our group whether it is helping a person to move out or catching coffee with someone to know how they are going.

3. Taking Sleep to a Whole New Level

We all know the benefits of a good night’s rest and sleep meditation. But it is quite hard to commit to a good eight-hour sleeping habit when we have the ‘grind hard; work culture plastered all over our workplace or LinkedIn. It is praised to be overworked and always chasing the next thing and over committing to things that will run you dry. It is time to praise resting – resting for the mind, soul, and body.

One of our new year resolutions is that we are committing to stop looking at emails after 6:30 pm and to never work in bed. As the bed is a place of sleep. It is also important to seek medical advice if you have sleeping difficulties, as sleep is a way to invest in yourself. It has been stated that sleeping eight hours a day, sustains our immune system, memories/knowledge, and weight.

4. Establishing Personal Space

When we mean by that, we meant making your home HOME! Due to quarantine, we know the importance of creating a space that is a sanctuary for you, hence the boom of renovation content on social media! We want to make space feel like a place where we can relax, rejuvenate and meditate. This can be done by adding personality to your place.

For example, add a plant or two, add a throw blanket that you liked from a storefront, or have an aromatic essential oil diffuser to create a relaxing atmosphere in your place. Having your own space is where you can get the greatest ideas, feel more productive, and be in private with yourself. So it’s time to make your home feel like home!

5. Add a New Skill into your Skillset

How to learn new skills? There is nothing wrong to add more knowledge and skill to our skillset!

Whether it is cooking, drawing, learning a new language, or simply writing. All knowledge is good and better when we put it to practice. So we are committing to try new things and choose a skill that we can practice 20mins daily. By setting ourselves 20mins to do this craft every day it allows us to de-stress and be curious. It also allows us to be creative and think out of the box! We are blessed to have a lot of online courses at an affordable price available to us like MASTERCLASS, Skillshare, Domestika, etc. So join us to learn a new skill this 2021!

6. Clean Beauty

On the rise of skincare content and products, it is crucial to educate ourselves and our needs. So the CF team is committing for 2021 to invest in great skincare products without compromising. Meaning we would buy a product that gives us results, organically sourced, and beneficial for our skin than a product that has good packaging and the hype.

Another of our new year resolutions is that we also want to take the time and understand what our body needs and learn about the ingredients that can cater to them.  As it is important for us to also be conscious of what we are putting into and onto our body as our bodies are sacred and worth giving self-care.

7. Taking Time for Yourself

We want to change for the better and find ways to be well balanced in all aspects of our lives. Instead of over-committing to things and running ourselves dry – it is time to commit and understand our inner self. It is time to have those deep reflections and hard conversations with ourselves. Achieved by taking time daily for 20mins (or more) to meditate, exercise, or journaling our thoughts or even visiting a dentist in Oakland. It is important to focus on mental health and self-discovery as it improves mood, productivity, and mental state. This can also be done by listening to wellness podcasts or reading books that give us valuable lessons.
