Simone O’Brien is a domestic violence survivor, speaker, strong advocate for women against violence, and at 44 years old she is a mother of three beautiful children.

Her journey started in 2012, when she suffered a horrific attack at the hands of a perpetrator who would not take “no” for an answer. It started with emotional and psychological abuse and ended up with her being beaten with a baseball bat to within inches of her life. As a result she had to undergo lifesaving surgery, spend many months in hospital, endure several follow-up operations and countless rehabilitation sessions. In addition to the physical and emotional scars, Simone lost an eye and her sense of smell. The perpetrator was found guilty of attempted murder and sentenced to 15 years jail where he is eligible for parole in 2025.

Biologi will be donating 100% of online store profits from all sales on Monday November 25th to the Education and Awareness of Domestic Violence against Women in Australia, as well as opening up a channel for donations of all amounts through Biologi’s website.

To support and promote this campaign Biologi will be hosting 4 women, alongside Simone, who have been affected by Domestic violence and abuse, to share and tell their story through a short video (Zara Kaiki, Jess Maher, Courtney Zerafa, Lucy Kuper). Unfortunately Simone’s story is not unique, with 1 in 4 women having experienced emotional abuse by a current or former partner since the age of 15. Biologi’s own Managing Director Lucy Kuper has experienced domestic violence at the hands of a previous partner and also joins Simone in this campaign.

This campaign was initially centred around White Ribbon Day however on the same day of filming we got the news that White Ribbon were going into liquidation. Whilst this news was upsetting, it also made us realise that now more than ever, Australia needs to continue to build awareness and support for local victims of Domestic Violence.
