Why Beauty Blender and How Did the Idea Come up?

I was working on the makeup set for the show Girlfriends which was the first show shot in HD, so I needed something that made the actors and actresses look flawless on camera in little time. I couldn’t carry around a big airbrush machine so I started to play around with some special effects tools and experimenting with wetting sponges/cutting them into different shapes.

I knew that a sponge could give a skin-like appearance and that, when used with water, could blend out makeup and allow it to set. This way I didn’t have to continue to layer on the product all day, I could apply and reset.
When people started stealing them on set, I knew I was on to something special with Beauty Blender.

What’s your Background in the Beauty Industry?

I started my career working on music videos, doing makeup for artists like Tupac, Dr Dre, Brandi, and Eve, and later transitioned to movies and TV, working on the sets of Friday and Set It Off.

How Should I contour my face?

I’m not a fan of OTT contouring – so using a beauty blender is perfect for ensuring a natural contoured look. You’ll get a natural, soft, blended type of contour that is what corrective make-up is about, to not be seen. As for picking the product I recommend using a concealer, particularly with our bounce concealer, it’s a creamy workable formula that blends easily to create a natural finish.
When picking a shade I would go 4 to 5 shades darker than your normal skin tone.

Foundation, concealer and mascara are all you need!

If I don’t have long to get ready I do a quick bounce off our BOUNCE foundation applied with a beauty blender, which blends in a matter of seconds, followed by a swipe of BOUNCE concealer (if I have time, I’ll use a darker colour to do a quick, natural contour too), followed by a lick of mascara. If you want to quickly and easily take your look to the next level, apply liquid eyeliner with our Liner designer for a smooth, clean line.

What is the Most Memorable Job you’ve Done?

Honestly, I have to say working on the set of Girlfriends, since that’s when the magic of beauty blender came about!

Top Products for a No-makeup Makeup Look?

Our new BOUNCE concealer blends out so seamlessly, it’s perfect to naturally cover up any uneven skin tone or blemishes, for a flawless ‘no makeup’ look. Minimal effort, maximum results–that’s Rea Ann’s mantra

What’s the Best Lesson you’ve Learned Along the Way?

The best piece lesson I learned was to follow my intuition.  My first thought about the subject is usually the one I’d circle back to. We tend to always rethink the first thought thinking it’s not the most thought out or the best solution to whatever the challenge is.

But generally, I find that when I go back to my first thought, it’s always the solution.

What does your Own Makeup Routine Looks Like?

On a day to day basis, I like to keep it light! I love using the beauty blender bounce concealer as my foundation it gives the perfect amount of coverage with an amazing radiant finish. Then I like to take our glass glow shinelighter to add a little bit of glow and lastly a lip tint to add some colour.
