What to Remember When Redecorating

When redecorating your living room, it is essential to remember the function of the space. It will most likely be where you spend most of your time, and therefore should be a cozy and welcoming room.

You should choose colors or reference paint trends and materials that make you feel at ease and make you feel like you want to be in the space. You should avoid making it feel too much like a “showroom” too, as this will make you uncomfortable and you won’t want to be there.

How to Pick Furniture

When it comes to picking furniture, the size of the room plays an important role. You would want a couch or two, a coffee table, and a TV stand, maybe. Anything above this will be determined by the amount of space you have left.

Therefore, it is important to decide what you need the space to do before buying furniture. Is it a living room for relaxing, or is it for entertaining friends and family? Knowing what the room is for will help you pick the right Haute Home LA furniture and not waste money on something you end up moving.

Themes

When it comes to themes, there are dozens to choose from. While you can obviously put your own spin on things, these themes can be used as a base to build a look around.

Rustic

A rustic theme incorporates browns, woods, and wool carpets to create a log cabin look without needing the log cabin. When choosing furniture, opt for raw wood and leather or soft and cozy materials.

The colour palette is reasonably flexible, as you can choose browns, tans, or dark greens for a moodier look.

Nautical

A classic living room and house theme is nautical, especially for those near the beach. A nautical theme is also relatively easy to pull off as it is mostly about colour and material choice, as opposed to needing a lot of new furniture.

The colour palette includes blues, whites, and greys, with many people opting for white cotton or even white leather for the furniture. Accessories can range from seashell wind chimes to using boat rope in a fun and unique way.

Modern

A modern room is a prevalent theme that many new-build homes and designs have. You use contemporary furniture and a neutral colour palette to create a cozy room that is still stylish and sleek.

A modern home combines many other styles, including Cottagecore, rustic, mid-century, and even a touch of industrial. It is also an excellent choice for those who want a quick change or have a relatively tight budget.

Cottagecore

The Cottagecore look is all about comfort and warmth. As the name suggests, you are recreating a cottage in the woods by including lots of wood, deep, dark paints, and soft materials such as wool and couch blankets.

While you can style it however you choose, the essence of Cottagecore is transporting you into a fairytale forest where the animals can speak, and you spend all day next to the fireplace drinking a cup of tea or coffee.

Victorian

Victorian is for you if you want to feel like your living room is straight out of an episode of Downtown Abbey or Bridgerton. This theme is all about vintage luxury, with leather, embellishments, and crystal, gold, and glass everywhere.

This can be a difficult theme to pull off from scratch, as it can be very expensive, but it can also be done slowly over time. You can start by collecting pieces, and then slowly and surely; you will have a room that looks like something a royal would relax in.

Mid-Century

A mid-century room is a combination of 70s and 80s styles but with a modern twist. Think of pops of colour, curves, and a mix of materials and shapes that create depth and dimension to a room, no matter how big or small.

Once again, the furniture choice depends on your taste, but you can get the mid-century feel by choosing the right colours. Pops of lime, orange, and pink against a modern backdrop will give you that 70s feel without the shag carpeting and polka dots.

Industrial

Industrial is definitely not a style that many will find appealing; however, it is fairly unique. The ideas are simple; clean, sharp lines, a white, grey, and black colour palette, and use of metal or other hard materials like stone.

As the name describes, the industrial theme is a lot of hard lines and edges mixed with cold and raw materials. It is a relatively simple look that has a lot of impact.
