Winter sometimes means dry skin and a less healthy surface. Why? when the weather is too dry the skin barrier function gets affected so you can feel the skin drier, with irritation or itchiness plus it could look uneven and more wrinkled because as you might know moisture gives that glow-looking that we all love.

Soaps, detergents and almost everything that makes foams usually breaks up skin’s naturals oils so if you are from the team of sensitive skin, probably you will feel irritate due to the surfactants that can also disrupt your skin barrier function. The good news? We can always go for clean options with good ingredients that will not just moisture your skin, but also will keep your skin barrier healthier and happy.

So how many times should I wash my face and body without disrupting my skin barrier?

Unless you are very oily, you don’t need to wash your face with cleanser morning and night.

I personally like to wash my face in the morning just with water and jump on my face oil or moisturizer.

ANA FREITAS

Also take short showers with non-surfactant cleansers, The Mandarin, Pink Grapefruit & Lemon Myrtle Body Wash from Ena is packed with botanicals oils and leaves your skin moisturised without any itchy or dry sensation and it has a fresh and botanical scent. For the shower, is also good to consider an oil body scrub like The Himalayan Pink Salt, Pink Grapefruit, Lemon Myrtle & Eucalyptus as will help to bring healthy new cells to the surface of the skin and the oils seal in the water from the shower, so basically you are helping the skin to pre-moisturiser before you even leave the shower!

Balm Cleanser for Dry Skin

We shouldn’t overuse face or body cleanser however when we talk about dry skin on our face, a good balm cleanser is a great option if you want to leave your skin not just clean but also dewy, hydrated and untight. The Grapeseed Butter Cleanser is a beautiful blend made with natural and certified organic nourishing ingredients like Vinanza Grape, Harakeke Flax, and Hibiscus Bloom.

EXFOLIATE OUR FACE

-Yes or No?

You probably might think that exfoliation is not an option if you have dry skin, however, our beloved AHA was actually developed as a treatment for dry skin conditions as shaping away dead skin allows healthier cells to go to the surface so your face oil or moisturizer can make their job better. We love chemicals exfoliants for the face as they are usually more gentle with the skin comparing with the physical ones that sometimes, can end up making damage to the skin barrier.

MOISTURISER

Basically part of choosing the face moisturiser that works for you is simply a personal preference in term of texture, absorption, smell, ingredients… Whatever form you decide to go for, it will work sealing in the water that’s already in your skin, just make sure it doesn’t have any petroleum if you don’t want to clog your pores and end up with ISO skin AKA acne.

Another little hack is to apply your products when your skin is still wet as it helps to absorb the ingredients of your treatment better. I also love to massage my face after using my moisturizer or face oil with the Foreo Bear Mini for a more youthful and contoured complexion especially on the under eyes, eyebrows, and smile lines. I just feel that’s really helped me to get the most out of my treatment while gently massaging the face that not juts feels so relaxing also boosts the skin’s radiance.

BODY OILS

The beauty of body oils is basically the way skin drinks it in and instantly looks and feels wildly luxurious to the touch. (There’s a reason why women have been using it for centuries) and now it’s back on track, plus using a body oil it’s a great way to take a moment of self-care not bad during these days.

But not everything is gold, as conventional body oils can contain all sorts of unappealing ingredients, silicones, mineral oils, artificial fragrances, etc… Who wants to slather their entire body in them and potentially expose ourselves to larger amounts of toxic ingredients? I certainly don’t…. so one of my favorite products that I have been recently trying is the Rose Geranium & Lavender ENA Body Oil which combines beautiful scents, exquisite texture, and serious skin benefits.

Dry Skin

The mix of Sweet Almond, Macadamia, Jojoba, Avocado, and Argan just to mention a few, are all-powerful ingredients in assisting the regeneration of the skin cell activity and to repair damaged skin tissue plus it leaves the skin feeling invigorated, the senses awakened, and the body supple and soft.

HAND CREAM

With that handwashing-on-repeat going on at the moment (We’re more than happy to abide by these rules as any of us want to get/spread the virus) our hands are suffering, combined with the cold weather and the heating, looks like it’s the perfect recipe for cracked and dry skin. However, while there are many different kinds of hand creams out there, Ena hand treatment is an awesome, luxe- plant-based super moisturizing that the only thing it leaves behind, is just a hint of botanical scent, and not a solely greasy residue.
