At-home masks are the latest in beauty tech, but are they actually worth the hype?

To put things in context, LED light treatment has been actually popular for a while at specialised beauty clinics and spas. These lights were discovered back in the 60s by NASA to help astronauts to heal their skin due to the demanding circumstance they were exposed.  So here is the question, if LED light could help the healing process of the astronaut’s skin, can they actually make magic for us?

Dr. Dennis Gross Spectralite Faceware Pro Review

I was lucky enough to get my hands on Dr. Dennis Gross Spectralite Faceware Pro last Christmas, so I’ve tested it out for a while now as I wanted to ensure that this viral LED mask was more than an eye-catching internet trend.

The three-minute at-home LED mask could be a bit intimidating at first, but it actually is one of the easiest devices I own, which means it’s been very easy to add onto my skincare routine.

All I need to do is to wash my face, put on the mask, select the mode I want to use and keep doing whatever I’m doing at home as it’s wireless and comfortable to wear. When the three minutes are up, the mask turns off, and then I like to disinfect the inside to prepare it for the next wear.  Dr Dennis Gross recommends using the mask about four days a week for a period of 90 days to see results, and the reality is that the keyword here is consistency. I started to see results when I’m consistently using the at-home led therapy mask every 4-5 days in a row as the texture on my skin got smoother, my scars started to fade, and the whole complexion just looks brighter; plus, it helped so much to keep pimples at bay.

Does it worth the price tag? The price of the FaceWare Pro is quite an investment — $679 — So it’s something that you should definitely meditate on before adding to cart. For me, it’s worth it if you like to go for LED treatments regularly, as even though the potency of this LED mask is not the same as the in-office visit, you can have 3 minutes a day, every single day, if you don’t forget it. This means it’s more cost-effective than having monthly treatment — the price range for LED light therapy treatments goes between $190 to $350 per visit — So you can figure now.

Also, if you are trying to deal with acne, this at-home LED light therapy treatment is going to be your best friend as I noticed that since I own the Spectralite Faceware Pro, my unwanted pimples don’t show as much as they used to, plus it definitely helps me to treat them and speed the healing process.  I also noticed that after using it for a while, my whole complexion looks brighter, and my post-inflammatory pigmentation blurs quicker than before.

Does it help with wrinkles?  I could not see any results on this as I still don’t have visible wrinkles; however, clinical studies show that 97% of the participants that tested out Dr. Dennis Gross’ LED Light Therapy Mask saw visible improvement in fine lines and wrinkles in the second week of daily use.
